AC Tumi vs San Onofre 4-4

I want to say that this was the best game I did attend this year and want to thank both Casmir Krempa and Cesar Aliaga for attending it with me.
The game was played mostly under torrential rain, but it did not “tarnish” the performance by both teams.
San Onofre scored the first 3 goals of the game and ended the first half with a lead of 3-0 with Manuel Gonzalez scoring on a PK.
CA Tumi fought back and scored to make it 3-1 and again making it 3-2. San Onofre than scored again with 10 minutes left in the game 4-2.
This is when San Onofre decided to protect their lead and basically barricaded themselves making the old Italian “catenaccio”.
CA Tumi continue their attacks and where able to make the score 4-3. In extra time AC Tumi did score their tying goal and the game ended tied 4-4 with their highest scorer Cesar Ceja.
The Penalties kicks where started by Tumi who scored 3 of the 4 PK’s taken San Onofre GK Juarez Cholo did save one shot, San Onofre scored on all 3 PK’s taken, when the forth was being taken the lights went out and the game had to be abandoned.
We will finish the PK’s shoot out this Saturday night at Columbus park to see who will be Unity opponent for the final.
Again let me congratulate both CA Tumi and San Onofre on last night incredible game!
Good Luck

Eastern District Soccer League Annual Holiday Party
The Eastern District Soccer League held its annual Holiday Party this past Sunday at Casellato’s in Elmsford. Over 50 people attended this gala event. President Peter Pinori thanked everyone for coming and although the party was titled “Holiday Party” Peter clarified that the main theme was “thank you”. Everyone in attendance graciously volunteers their time, without any compensation, to promote the game of soccer. With over 150 teams representing thousands of soccer players the work required to meet the demands of everyone takes more than a handful of people. Peter was so appreciative of everyone’s work that he took the time to visit every table and introduced each volunteer to the room. Nothing was scripted, he spoke with ease as he mentioned just a few of the accomplishments of each person. He also specifically thanked the spouses and “better halves” for putting up with the phone calls, late night meetings and probably spending too much time at the soccer field.

James Bowne Elected to Eastern District Soccer League’s Hall of Fame

The highlight of the party was the induction of James Bowne into the Eastern District Soccer Hall of Fame. His list of accomplishments and support for the Eastern District Soccer League and the game of soccer is truly outstanding. From organizing and running leagues, scheduling and assigning officials James is in the forefront of getting things done. The Eastern District Soccer League has stringent rules and regulations for selection into the Hall of Fame, and James was a unanimous, first ballet inductee. It is truly our pleasure to have someone of James caliber a member of EDSL Hall of Fame.

Eastern New York State Soccer Association
Hall of Fame

“Behind every good man is a great woman”
The Eastern New York State Soccer Association celebrated this sentiment by inducting 9 women into the 2018 class of the Eastern New York State Hall of Fame. Each woman spoke eloquently about their love for the great game of soccer while juggling work, a family and yes, their husbands.
Although working diligently behind the scenes organizing, registering and doing all the necessary things to make a soccer league operate successfully they also actively took part in playing, coaching and officiating soccer. Their contributions have touched the lives of thousands of soccer players, men and women, adult and youth and can never be fully appreciated.
Eastern District Soccer League is extremely proud to have 2 representatives in this outstanding list of women, Debbie Pinori and Lori Brengelmann.
Debbie Pinori’s start in soccer dates back to 1975 when she assisted in running the soccer team which her husband played on. From there she became the secretary to EDSL from 1987 to present growing the league from 12 teams to 130 teams in 14 divisions. She also serves as the ENYSSA referee registrar, on the ENY Referee Committee and is the ENY Liability Insurance administrator. All positions she continues to serve on. Her dedication to the sport is unwavering and continues to be an inspiration to all.
Lori Brengelmann has done it all. From a soccer mom, to collegiate athlete, licensed coach and official. She been involved in every aspect of the great game of soccer. In her “spare time” Lori started and runs an Over 40 league, became president of the Hudson Valley Senior Soccer League and just recently started an Over 48 league all while continuing to play. She is truly an outstanding Ambassador for the game of soccer.
It is with great honor that the Eastern New York State Soccer Association recognizes:
Women of Eastern New York Soccer
Lori Brengelmann, Teresa Catalioti
Joanne Deluca, Margarita Natacha Guilarte
Debbie Pinori, Ann Rapaglia
